Job description:

We are currently recruiting for multiple Disability Support Workers to provide support to NDIS participants across Melbourne.

You will work in the community providing a range of supports to participants to enable them to achieve their personal goals and build their independence.

You will have the opportunity to work with a variety of Participants with different support needs including building improved daily living skills, social and community participation, personal care support and domestic support.

Details of the role

Type: In-home care support
Employment: Casual roles available
Salary: $28.95 to $30.95 per hour (Based on qualifications and Experience/s)
Location: Western Suburbs Melbourne

Mandatory: You will need a NDIS Screening Clearance Check and proof of full COVID-19 Vaccination.

Key duties: 

  • Varied duties in line with providing support to help enable the participant to achieve their goals.
  • Support participants with activities of daily living
  • Support participants to access their community, build relationships, engage with activities of their choice, attend appointments and access amenities.
  • Friendly nature person with cheerful attitude 
  • undertake shopping and other activities as required.

Essential for the role:

  • Disability related qualifications or minimum of Cert III in Individual Support 
  • NDIS Screening Clearance Check
  • Valid work rights in Australia
  • Current and Clear National Police Check (within 12 months validity), (or be prepared to obtain)
  • Must have, or be willing to obtain: First Aid Certificate, CPR Certificate, Paid Working with Children’s Check, NDIS Worker Check & recent/contactable industry-related references.
  • Australian driver's license
  • Insured car
  • Can speak fluent Mandarin or Spanish
  • A passion for client service and caring for people!


  • Hoisting experience
  • Manual Handling 
  • Able to cook 
  • Experience supporting people with Mental Health issues, Intellectual and /or physical disability
  • Experience with non-verbal clients (Auslan Language)
  • Nursing Background

  • School placements is also provided for the required number of hours.

About the opportunity:

The role of the Care Coordinator is to support Participants to remain living at home through the promotion of independence and choice. By employing professional skill and knowledge,the Care Coordinator will assist Participants to develop attainable goals and, in turn, coordinate a range of services that support and promote these goals. High-level duties include Managing Daily tasks within the Direct Supports Team (work with Operations Manager and other Care Coordinators and Allied Health Team). Ensuring the Participant's wellbeing and being a point of contact for the Participant’s support requirements. Maintaining a connection between the support team and collaborating with participants and internal staff.

Responsibilities include:

  • Intake of new Participants and carrying out the participant induction procedure by educating Participants on NDIS and its processes
  • Complete and maintain onboarding documents of participants
  • Carrying out Risk Assessments
  • Prepare participant’s Support Plans and PCP’s
  • For High Care Needs Participants – Ensure medication plans and Peg feed plans are in place and appropriately trained rostered staff.
  • To be the main point of contact for general Participant inquiries from both internal and external sources, referring queries were necessary to the appropriate member of the team.
  • Support Participants in decision-making and coordinate a program for older people or people with a disability in the community and understand consumer-directed care.
  • To be part of the Business team and take responsibility for the day-to-day administration
  • Managing the reports and ensuring all reports are completed on time and are kept up to date
  • Perform any administrative tasks as required by the team

Supervision, Coaching, and Mentoring Assistance

  • To assist with training and development administration, including keeping records of any attended training, forwarding appropriate joining instructions, and keeping training records as up-to-date as appropriate.
  • Administration of any training course for staff and support the Corporate Services and Operations Managers with running any in-house training sessions. 
  • Ensure compliance checklist with Health and Safety Regulations

Desirable / Requirement:

  • Appropriate certification which is relevant to the disability industry (NDIS Screening Check, Certificate III, IV in Disability, Certificate IV in Individual Support)
  • Who can Drive and hold an Australian driver's License
  • Insured car
  • Police Check WWC
  • Vaccination Certification

Knowledge & Experience:

  • Previous experience within a disability or age care environment.
  • Good general administration experience.
  • Proven numerical/mathematical ability.
  • Working in a busy environment with tasks that require a short turnaround.
